Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 18, 2026
Heirloom helps you preserve family recipes — the handwriting, the story, and all. We take that trust seriously. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the control you have.
What we collect
- Account details — your email, an optional display name, and, if you sign in with Google, the basic profile information Google shares.
- Your recipes & photos — the recipe cards, images, and any notes or stories you add.
- Order details — for printed books, a shipping address and order history (payment card details are handled by our payment processor, not stored by us).
- Basic usage data — anonymous events that help us understand and improve the product.
How we use it
To transcribe and store your recipes, generate dish photos, display your cookbooks, fulfill printed-book orders, keep your account secure, and improve Heirloom. We do not sell your personal information.
Service providers
We share the minimum necessary with trusted providers who help us run Heirloom: OpenAI (transcribing cards and generating dish photos), Cloudflare R2 (image storage), Stripe (payments), Lulu (book printing and shipping), Resend (transactional email), and Google (optional sign-in). Each processes data only to provide their part of the service.
Your recipes are private by default
Recipes you add are visible only to you unless you choose to share them — with family in a shared cookbook, or publicly to the community feed. You decide what to publish, and you can unpublish at any time. Your original handwritten card scans are never shown publicly.
Keeping & deleting your data
You can edit or delete individual recipes at any time. To delete your account and associated data, contact us and we'll take care of it. We keep information only as long as needed to provide the service or meet legal and accounting obligations.
Cookies
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and the app working. We do not use advertising trackers.
