Croissants ala French
Delicate, flaky crescent croissants filled with a sweet almond mixture.

Ingredients
- 1 cup ground almonds
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 egg white
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 2 (8-oz.) cans refrigerated crescent dinner rolls
- 2 tablespoons margarine or butter, softened
- 1 egg white, slightly beaten
- 1 teaspoon water
- 1/4 cup sliced almonds
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 1 tablespoon margarine or butter, softened (for glaze)
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract (for glaze)
- 2 to 3 teaspoons milk (for glaze)
Steps
- 1Heat oven to 375 degrees F.
- 2Lightly grease 2 cookie sheets.
- 3In small bowl, combine ground almonds, 1/2 cup powdered sugar, 1 egg white, and 1/2 teaspoon almond extract.
- 4Separate dough into 16 triangles.
- 5Spread scant 1/2 teaspoonful margarine over each triangle to within 1/2 inch of edges.
- 6Spread about 2 teaspoonfuls almond mixture over margarine.
- 7Roll up, starting at shortest side of triangle and rolling to opposite point.
- 8Place rolls point-side-down on prepared cookie sheets; curve each into crescent shape.
- 9Combine remaining egg white and water; brush over rolls.
- 10Place sliced almonds on rolls.
- 11Bake at 375 degrees F for 10 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
- 12In small bowl, blend glaze ingredients until smooth; drizzle over warm rolls.
