White Castles

The story

Written by Cousin Mickey · 1990 · for Tailgates

Council Mickey's Homemade White Castles were a late-night tradition after long meetings and community events. He always claimed the secret was steaming the onions until they melted into the burgers, then serving them hot with pickles and plenty of mustard. Whether they actually tasted like the originals was always up for debate—but they disappeared from the plate every single time.
